The Piedmont String Benders is an “Almost Acoustic” trio. The group offers a mixed bag of “B Side” cover tunes with unique arrangements. Most of the members of the group have enjoyed and been a part of the Spartanburg Music Scene for many years. We enjoy using a variety of instruments including steel string acoustics, nylon guitars, dobros and the occasional romp with a telecaster through a weed tube amp. Our percussion compliments the acoustic format Mike Miller keeping time on a djembe along with bongos and shakers.
As a group we focus on volume and dynamics appreciating that the music sounds better and acoustic instruments are easier to play at lower levels. Our repertoire covers Gershwin to Leon Russell, and all points in between. There are tons of talented musicians in Spartanburg and we often enjoy a collaborative effort with special guests and friends.
